MITRE output for: N/A

In this calculation, we've used MITRE to infer rule sets that can distinguish infants fed predominantly a formula-based diet from those predominantly breastfed, based on their gut microbiota over time, using data from Bokulich, N. A., et al., ``Antibiotics, birth mode, and diet shape microbiome maturation during early life'', Science Translational Medicine 8(343): 343ra82 (2016).

The heat map on this page shows the distribution of detectors - the building blocks of MITRE rule sets - for which there's strong evidence of an association with the outcome (that is, strong evidence that the detector is contained in the 'true' rule set relating the outcome - here, formula-dominant diet - to the microbiome data.)

Columns of the heat map represent short time windows, covering the duration of the experiment. Rows are OTUs, with their phylogeny shown at left. The color of a cell indicates the strength of the evidence that at least one rule covering that OTU in that time window is included in the "true" rule set.
